Responsibilities

  • Build and improve secure, scalable integrations that collect data from third-party APIs and deliver it to downstream systems.
  • Own complex backend and ingestion-platform features from requirements clarification through design, implementation, testing, launch, and measurement.
  • Develop reusable connector patterns, self-service integration workflows, and snapshot and event-ingestion capabilities.
  • Improve data freshness, correctness, and reliability through service-level goals, error handling, alerts, and durable fixes.
  • Diagnose issues across vendor APIs, ingestion services, and downstream interfaces and participate in the on-call rotation.
  • Collaborate with engineers and product and platform partners through design discussions, code reviews, asynchronous communication, and documentation.
  • Use AI-assisted tools for development, testing, and troubleshooting while validating outputs and maintaining production quality.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of software engineering experience, including hands-on development of production backend services in Python.
  • Experience delivering complex features from a defined problem through technical approach, implementation, and successful launch.
  • Strong backend design, API, data modeling, testing, debugging, and performance fundamentals.
  • Experience operating production services and using logs, metrics, and alerts to investigate and resolve issues.
  • Familiarity with cloud services and deployment practices, ideally AWS.
  • Clear written communication and ability to clarify ambiguous requirements with cross-functional teammates and stakeholders.
  • Experience with Go, Kafka or another messaging system, and distributed data pipelines is preferred.
  • Experience integrating third-party SaaS APIs, including authentication, pagination, rate limits, and inconsistent source data, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Docker or other container technologies, SQL databases, batch or snapshot ingestion, workflow orchestration, or configuration-driven integration frameworks is preferred.
