Software Engineer II in Canada

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and roll out backend services in Go, Python, and Rust.
  • Evolve declarative, schema-validated configuration systems and manage vehicle-side feature lifecycles with idempotent, reliable state delivery.
  • Lead analytical store migrations involving schema design, ingestion, dual-writes, and cutover sequencing.
  • Build tiered-storage routing across low-latency key-value stores, aggregation systems, and lakehouse archives.
  • Architect stateful fleet-scale streaming consumers for enrichment and anomaly detection, addressing key skew, backpressure, and exactly-once semantics.
  • Implement metrics, logging, and distributed tracing focused on user-facing symptoms.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, debug incidents, and drive preventative follow-up work.
  • Strengthen cross-system integration and logic-error test coverage.
  • Coordinate interface contracts with ingestion, firmware, and authentication teams and support internal service engineering, product, and autonomy stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least two years of experience building and operating backend services in production.
  • Strong proficiency in a statically typed, compiled backend language; Go and Python are emphasized, with Java, Rust, C++, C#, or Kotlin also applicable.
  • Working knowledge of at least one database, including indexing, query planning, connection pooling, and performance under load.
  • Experience designing and consuming HTTP or REST APIs, including versioning, backward compatibility, idempotency, and error semantics.
  • Comfort with Git, containerized local development, CI pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code at a read-and-modify level.
  • Strong written communication for distributed, document- and merge-request-based technical work.
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada.
  • Preferred: production Go and gRPC experience, high-cardinality time-series modeling, real-time or columnar OLAP stores, distributed stream processing or logs, lakehouse architectures, unified machine learning or inference pipelines, IoT or telematics, AWS, Kubernetes, and observability.
