Responsibilities

  • Own backend features from design through production rollout using Go, Python, and Rust.
  • Evolve declarative, schema-validated configuration systems and manage reliable, idempotent vehicle-side configuration lifecycles.
  • Lead analytical-store migrations involving schema design, ingestion, dual writes, and cutover sequencing.
  • Build tiered-storage routing across key-value stores, aggregation systems, and lakehouse archives.
  • Architect stateful fleet-scale stream-processing consumers for enrichment and anomaly detection.
  • Implement metrics, logging, and distributed tracing; participate in on-call rotations, debug incidents, and prevent recurrence.
  • Strengthen cross-system and integration test coverage.
  • Partner with ingestion, firmware, authentication, service engineering, product, and autonomy teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least two years of experience building and operating backend services in production.
  • Strong proficiency in a statically typed compiled backend language, with Go and Python preferred; Java, Rust, C++, C#, or Kotlin experience is also applicable.
  • Working knowledge of at least one database, including indexing, query planning, connection pooling, and performance behavior under load.
  • Experience designing and consuming HTTP or REST APIs, including versioning, backward compatibility, idempotency, and error semantics.
  • Comfort with Git, containerized local development, CI pipelines, and infrastructure as code.
  • Strong written communication skills for technical documentation and merge-request discussions.
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada.
  • Preferred: production Go and gRPC experience, high-cardinality time-series modeling, real-time or columnar OLAP stores, distributed stream-processing frameworks or logs, lakehouse architectures, unified machine-learning or inference pipelines, IoT or telematics systems, AWS, Kubernetes, and observability.
