Responsibilities

Design and implement new backend features for Affirm’s underwriting platform across Affirm Card, e-commerce sites, and the Affirm app.
Break larger projects into tasks, deliver work in phases, and collaborate with teammates and stakeholders for timely delivery.
Partner with Product Management, Design, Analytics, and Credit Risk on ideation, technical constraints, risks, and trade-offs.
Create and monitor metrics, support system availability, and participate in keep-the-lights-on and on-call efforts.
Write clear, well-tested, extensible code; navigate large codebases, debug code, conduct code reviews, and participate in interviewing.

Requirements

At least 1.5 years of experience as a software engineer.
Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems.
Proficiency in Python or Kotlin.
Familiarity with distributed systems, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
Ability to translate business problems into solutions spanning multiple software components and write clear, well-tested, extensible code.
Strong debugging, code review, ownership, growth, and verbal and written communication skills.
