Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, deploy, monitor, and iterate on production features across backend APIs, data pipelines, integrations, and case management UI.
  • Build scalable REST APIs and microservices that orchestrate identity verification, sanctions screening, and document analysis checks across more than 80 compliance vendors.
  • Develop case management workflows and business logic for KYB and AML compliance processes.
  • Create data pipelines to ingest, transform, and route compliance data at scale.
  • Integrate third-party identity and compliance APIs and manage complex vendor response mapping.
  • Write tested, maintainable, documented code and participate in code reviews and technical architecture discussions.
  • Debug production issues, own incident resolution, and improve system performance, reliability, cost efficiency, monitoring, alerting, and observability.
  • Collaborate with product managers, compliance experts, customer success teams, and founders while mentoring or supporting junior engineers.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping production systems.
  • Strong programming fundamentals in at least one backend language such as Python, Go, Java, or Node.js.
  • Experience building RESTful APIs, microservices, or distributed systems.
  • Solid understanding of relational databases including PostgreSQL or MySQL and data modeling.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, with AWS preferred and GCP or Azure acceptable.
  • Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and modern deployment practices.
  • Ability to own features end-to-end from ambiguous requirements through production launch.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, including comfort working in unfamiliar codebases.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers, formally or informally.
  • Preferred: experience in FinTech, RegTech, payments, fraud, or risk detection; knowledge of KYC, KYB, AML, sanctions screening, or adverse media workflows.
  • Preferred: experience with event-driven architectures, message queues, third-party APIs, NoSQL databases, search engines, React, TypeScript, ML/AI systems, Kubernetes, or Terraform.
