Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain the Maps API layer and Map Display SDK for Uber’s iOS applications.
Architect stable, ergonomic APIs that enable product engineers to ship map features safely and efficiently.
Collaborate with Rider, Driver, and Eats feature teams to identify developer pain points and drive platform improvements.
Write maintainable Swift and Objective-C code with a focus on stability, backward compatibility, and test coverage.
Diagnose, profile, and resolve platform regressions, memory leaks, and concurrency challenges.
Participate in technical design discussions and code reviews.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
At least 3 years of professional software engineering experience developing and shipping iOS applications or frameworks.
Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and system design.
Proficiency in Swift and Objective-C, with knowledge of the iOS SDK, runtime, and memory management.
Experience writing production-ready code supported by unit and integration tests.
Preferred: experience designing, distributing, and maintaining reusable iOS SDKs, libraries, or APIs for large developer organizations.
Preferred: experience with large-scale mobile monorepos and advanced build systems such as Bazel or Buck.
Preferred: familiarity with Mapbox, Apple MapKit, Google Maps SDK, or Metal.
Preferred: experience optimizing CPU/GPU performance, frame drops, network I/O, and battery life using Instruments.
Preferred: strong developer empathy, communication skills, documentation ability, and sample-code writing experience.

Benefits

For San Francisco-based roles, the base salary is USD $171,000-$190,000 per year.
Eligible full-time employees may participate in Uber’s bonus program and may receive equity awards and other compensation.
Eligible full-time employees may participate in a 401(k) plan and receive various benefits.

Salary: $171k - $190k/yr
