Software Engineer II, Storage in USA

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to cloud storage engineering projects by collaborating with product and engineering teams to define and execute roadmap features.
  • Write, review, qualify, and roll out sustainable software across the stack from bare metal to user-facing APIs.
  • Participate in architecture discussions, design processes, design reviews, code reviews, and implementation tasks.
  • Collaborate with teammates and support a culture of continuous learning.
  • Participate in cross-organization initiatives including technical talks, open-source development, and book clubs.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience building and operating large-scale, complex distributed cloud computing infrastructure products.
  • Preferably, experience building redundant and fault-tolerant storage solutions with backups, replication, encryption, and data protection mechanisms.
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices across coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Experience with at least one application programming language such as Java or Go.
  • Exposure to infrastructure-as-code tooling such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or Terraform.
  • Knowledge of Linux systems internals and computer architecture.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Bonus: experience with NVMe, SSDs, distributed storage systems, block storage, object storage, file storage, NFS, SMB, iSCSI, or NVMe-oF.
  • Bonus: contributions to open-source projects such as Ceph, GlusterFS, or OpenEBS.
  • Bonus: systems programming experience with C, C++, or Rust.
  • Bonus: understanding of physical and software-defined networking concepts.
  • An advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

Salary: $140k - $160k/yr
