Responsibilities

  • Drive the technical direction of the Python/FastAPI backend ecosystem, including API design, background task distribution, and production observability.
  • Architect and evolve PostgreSQL schemas, migrations, locking mechanisms, query performance, and multi-tenant data isolation.
  • Design asynchronous, event-driven medical imaging pipelines covering ingestion, de-identification, model inference, and result delivery.
  • Define reliable API interfaces with frontend teams and model input/output contracts with data scientists.
  • Maintain Architecture Decision Records, lead design reviews, and maintain the legacy TypeScript service through its planned sunset.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with proven production ownership.
  • Strong systems and backend fundamentals, with experience in Python/FastAPI or comparable languages such as Go, Rust, Java, Kotlin, C#, or TypeScript.
  • Expertise in concurrency and distributed systems, including race conditions, deadlocks, idempotent processing, and at-least-once messaging failures.
  • Production experience with PostgreSQL internals and message brokers, including indexing, transactions, row-level locks, queues, dead-letter strategies, and exponential backoffs.
  • Experience with typed code, automated testing suites, automated pipelines, Docker, and modern AI developer tooling.
  • Ability to set technical standards, challenge requirements, and collaborate fluently in English and Chinese.
  • Preferred experience with Google Cloud Platform, medical imaging workflows, DICOM, healthcare regulatory frameworks, multi-tenant database patterns, hybrid cloud or on-premises deployments, NumPy, computational geometry, or React/TypeScript.
