Responsibilities

  • Define and influence the direction of a small team using subject-matter expertise in target tracking and state estimation.
  • Architect, maintain, refactor, and evolve complex production software systems for performance, maintainability, and scalability.
  • Develop and deploy algorithms for tracking, multi-sensor data fusion, and state estimation.
  • Build high-performance Rust software for real-time tactical systems, simulations, and decision-support tools.
  • Implement filters, estimators, probabilistic reasoning systems, and estimation technologies for noisy or incomplete sensor data.
  • Analyze system performance through high-fidelity simulations, modeling tools, and statistical techniques.
  • Customize algorithms and software for mission-critical customer use cases.
  • Contribute across the software lifecycle from requirements definition through testing and optimization.
  • Communicate technical progress and actionable insights to colleagues and end-users.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience and a bachelor's degree in mathematics, physics, engineering, or another technical field.
  • At least 2 years working on a single codebase or product while maintaining and expanding it as requirements evolved.
  • Experience managing and evolving software architecture in production, including legacy-system refactoring and technical-debt management.
  • Strong knowledge of software design patterns, architectural principles, and maintainable, scalable system development.
  • Proficiency in algorithm design, software development, statistical modeling, Rust, and Python.
  • Understanding of linear algebra, optimization, probability, and stochastic processes.
  • Familiarity with big data pipelines, NoSQL databases, and large-scale sensor data.
  • Experience engineering systems involving estimation theory, adaptive filtering, controls, and complex signal environments.
  • Ability to work from prototyping through production optimization.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • Advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • Preferred experience includes production Rust modernization, concurrent and parallel programming, open-source Rust contributions, state estimation, Bayesian filtering, sensor fusion, recursive estimation, machine learning for tracking and recognition, Kalman filters, particle filters, JPDA, MHT, PHD filters, and radar, lidar, or EO/IR signal processing.

Salary: $165k - $218k/yr
