Software Engineer, Streaming Platform in Canada

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate Streaming Platform components including Kafka, the streaming runtime, high-level APIs, and developer-facing abstractions.
  • Implement resilient, high-throughput stream processing systems for unbounded datasets with strong correctness guarantees.
  • Build scalable automation and control-plane systems for Kafka fleet management.
  • Partner with product engineers to improve the reliability and consistency of ingestion pipelines.
  • Improve observability, monitoring, and failover for mission-critical real-time systems.

Requirements

  • At least 2–3 years of software engineering experience with a background in distributed systems, data infrastructure, or real-time streaming.
  • Proficiency in a programming language such as Python, Rust, Go, or Java; similar-language experience is also valuable.
  • Experience building and operating systems in cloud environments such as Kubernetes, AWS, or GCP.
  • Experience with Kafka, Flink, Spark Streaming, or similar streaming technologies is preferred.
