Responsibilities

Design and build security-critical AI agents that automate Starshield network and systems defense.
Use AI to discover and remediate security issues in Starshield infrastructure and systems.
Guide and test AI integrations into new and existing Starshield systems.
Identify opportunities to improve security through automation and AI.
Maintain production systems and improve security posture through direct implementation and recommendations to other engineering teams.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or another STEM discipline and 5+ years of professional software development experience, or 7+ years of professional security software development experience in lieu of a degree.
Experience with one or more software development languages, including Python, C++, or Golang.
Preferred experience with backend services, data models and migrations, modern web frontends, containerized Kubernetes deployments, CI pipelines, monitoring, and secure service connections.
Preferred experience designing, prompting, and securing autonomous agents and applying AI or machine learning to security classification and decision problems.
Preferred experience designing AI systems that learn and improve over time and knowledge of identity, cryptography, network security, operating system security, detection, and monitoring.
Active Top Secret, Top Secret SCI, or DOE Level Q clearance, or ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance.
Strong communication, collaboration, and independent-work skills.

Benefits

Base salary range is $170,000.00-$265,000.00, with potential stock or long-term cash awards, discretionary bonuses, and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
Benefits include medical, vision, dental, 401(k), disability and life insurance, paid parental leave, discounts, approximately three weeks of paid vacation, paid holidays, and paid sick leave.
Active-clearance employees may receive a 10% differential up to an additional $20,000 annually after being briefed into a classified program.
The role may require extended hours and weekends as needed.
Employment requires meeting applicable ITAR authorization requirements, such as being a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or otherwise eligible for required authorizations.
