Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable backend services for Disney’s advertising platforms.
  • Develop and maintain modern web applications for advertisers and internal teams.
  • Contribute to distributed service architecture, system performance, reliability, resiliency, and observability.
  • Collaborate with team members and partner teams to design solutions, estimate work, and drive alignment.
  • Write code for new features and service optimization.
  • Ensure code quality through testing, CI/CD pipelines, code reviews, and maintainable engineering practices.
  • Participate in stand-ups, scrum ceremonies, on-call rotation, production support, incident investigation, monitoring, and service operations.
  • Perform code reviews and provide technical guidance to other engineers.
  • Define and monitor technical and operational metrics and identify system optimization opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience building scalable distributed systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Hands-on proficiency with one or more programming languages, including Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • Experience with modern web frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.
  • Experience with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
  • Experience designing API-driven architectures and integrating model-serving or external services across cloud environments.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals in testing, CI/CD, and maintainable code practices.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Preferred: experience operating large-scale distributed systems.
  • Preferred: experience with Spring Boot or similar backend frameworks and React or similar frontend frameworks.
  • Preferred: experience with streaming or event-driven systems such as Kafka or Kinesis.
  • Preferred: familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
  • Preferred: exposure to high-throughput or low-latency systems.
