Sr. Software Engineer in USA

Responsibilities

  • Shape technical direction for the Essentials squad, contribute to architecture decisions, and unblock teammates while remaining hands-on.
  • Write maintainable code, conduct code reviews, pair program, and improve code quality through refactoring.
  • Design and optimize backend systems, APIs, data flows, relational database schemas, and efficient SQL queries.
  • Build responsive frontend experiences with React, TypeScript, and CSS.
  • Lead projects from planning through delivery, including risk identification, estimation, scoping, and communicating trade-offs.
  • Collaborate with product, design, and QA to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Use Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, and other AI development tools while contributing to shared prompts and agentic workflows.
  • Prototype LLM and automation applications for engineering and internal workflows with appropriate healthcare-data and billing safeguards.
  • Mentor engineers and provide technical direction and tasks for both personal and team execution.

Requirements

  • At least 7–10 years of full-stack development experience with Ruby on Rails as a core strength.
  • Experience with React; 5 or more years is preferred.
  • Experience leading projects end-to-end from problem decomposition through feature delivery.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and guiding architectural decisions.
  • Daily hands-on fluency with AI development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot.
  • Experience or strong demonstrated interest in building with LLM APIs, including prompt design, evaluation, and sensitive-data safety considerations.
  • Strong project management, planning, estimation, scoping, communication, organization, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal direction, manage multiple projects, create and execute technical direction, and collaborate effectively in a distributed environment.

Salary: $120k - $180k/yr
