Sr Software Engineer in USA

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical direction and architectural strategy for systems enabling merchants to integrate with Uber Eats.
  • Guide the team through requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, launching, and maintenance of high-availability, high-traffic services.
  • Partner with Product, Design, Analytics, Operations, ML, and go-to-market teams to define and execute the engineering roadmap.
  • Prioritize and deliver merchant capabilities and architectural improvements balancing scalability, reliability, speed, and user value.
  • Ensure operational excellence across support, on-call, deployments, and incident management.
  • Champion and implement engineering best practices across the team.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience with HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, application servers, and web applications.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript and experience developing user interfaces with frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.
  • Experience with Node.js, React-Query, GraphQL, or other server-side JavaScript technologies and tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including requirements gathering and drafting detailed design documents.
  • Advanced expertise in modern frontend frameworks and web technologies, particularly React.
  • Familiarity with user-experience principles and UX design tools such as Figma.
  • Strong understanding of web performance, accessibility, responsive design, and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Experience implementing complex projects with multiple dependencies.
  • Experience with multiple programming languages, such as Go and Java.

Benefits

  • For San Francisco and Sunnyvale, California-based roles, the base salary range is USD $202,000-$224,000 per year.
  • Eligible full-time employees may participate in Uber's bonus program, receive equity awards and other compensation types, and participate in a 401(k) plan.
  • Various benefits are available to eligible full-time employees.
