Sr. Software Engineer, Linux Kernel in USA new

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain a high-reliability Linux-based operating system for the supercomputer network fabric.
  • Write and optimize high-performance device drivers for network and compute hardware.
  • Deploy, operate, debug, and improve the production platform, including root-causing anomalies and enhancing observability and configuration-management tools.
  • Collaborate with hardware teams and external partners to design next-generation supercomputer hardware and bring up the operating system and software stack on it.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of hands-on systems programming experience in C or C++.
  • Strong operating-systems fundamentals, including scheduling, memory management, and I/O.
  • Understanding of host and device networking, including switches and routers.
  • Deep knowledge of the Linux kernel and networking stack, or transferable experience with another production-grade kernel.
  • Proficiency with kernel, network, and userspace debugging tools such as ftrace, perf, Wireshark, tcpdump, eBPF, and gdb.
  • Experience bringing up new hardware, including flashing bare-metal software on a microcontroller with JTAG or bootstrapping a Linux kernel and rootfs.
  • Experience developing and optimizing device or peripheral drivers, ideally for high-speed interfaces or systems involving DMA and cache coherency.
  • Understanding of Ethernet, PCIe, I2C, SPI, and other peripheral hardware interface standards, including schematic review and interface debugging.
  • Experience with product security, OS or system hardening, and secure boot schemes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
