Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end architecture for Zero Copy Connectors, including federated query execution, pushdown, connection pooling, caching, authentication, and connector extensibility.
  • Own the technical direction of Remote Process Sync, including throughput, parallel processing, ordering guarantees, resiliency, and supportability.
  • Drive the architecture of Private Connectivity using mTLS tunneling, SNI-based routing, stream multiplexing, and enterprise-scale security and resiliency.
  • Provide cross-team technical leadership across Data Fabric, Trino connectors, Stream Connect, ETL and Import Sets, analytics ingestion, and data quality.
  • Lead architecture and design reviews, technical specifications, build-versus-buy decisions, protocol decisions, and platform trade-offs.
  • Write production code, prototype approaches, review code, and establish performance and scalability strategies using benchmarks, capacity models, and validation.
  • Act as the senior technical escalation point for complex production and customer issues, driving root-cause analysis, observability improvements, and runbooks.
  • Partner with Product Management, Engineering Managers, Quality Engineering, Support, security, cloud infrastructure, and adjacent platform teams.
  • Mentor and grow senior and staff engineers and maintain technical depth across critical platform areas.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems or data platforms.
  • Deep expertise in distributed systems and data platform fundamentals, including query processing, data integration and replication, change data capture, streaming or batch pipelines, concurrency, consistency, and fault tolerance.
  • Experience with Kubernetes-based services, multi-tenant SaaS architecture, and data security and governance, including ACLs, encryption, and data residency.
  • Demonstrated experience leading architecture across multiple teams and delivering complex cross-functional platform initiatives end to end.
  • Strong hands-on coding ability in at least one systems language such as Java, C++, Go, or Scala, with continued production coding and code review experience.
  • Experience diagnosing and solving production performance and scalability problems using profiling, benchmarking, and observability data.
  • Ability to influence engineers, managers, product teams, and partners around technical direction through clear written and verbal communication.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Preferred experience with Trino internals, connector SPI, or other federated and distributed SQL query engines.
  • Preferred experience with Apache Iceberg, Apache Polaris, Iceberg REST catalogs, Spark, Delta Lake, Kafka, CDC, or message-driven integration frameworks.
  • Preferred hands-on experience with Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift, JDBC or REST access patterns, and OAuth authentication.
  • Preferred experience with the ServiceNow platform, Glide, IntegrationHub, Flow Designer, enterprise customer escalations, production incidents, data quality, data observability, AI-assisted data transformation, open-source contributions, patents, or publications.
