Responsibilities

Set technical direction for scalable data pipelines and data-serving platforms.
Design and build systems covering the ingestion, transformation, serving, and consumption lifecycle of financial data.
Create shared frameworks and platforms that enable AI applications and agents to access trusted data.
Partner with product and engineering teams to identify, validate, and deliver AI-enabled improvements.
Lead cross-team initiatives from technical design through rollout and ongoing operation.
Establish standards for data quality, observability, recovery, security, and access controls.
Improve query performance, platform reliability, and infrastructure efficiency, and resolve complex production issues.
Mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and raise engineering standards through hands-on technical guidance.

Requirements

8+ years of software engineering experience leading complex platform or distributed-systems initiatives across teams.
Strong proficiency in Python or Java and SQL, with experience designing, building, debugging, and operating production systems.
Deep experience with databases, data warehouses, ETL or ELT pipelines, data modeling, query optimization, and batch versus real-time processing.
Experience with large-scale offline processing and batch pipelines using Spark or similar frameworks, including recovery and performance tuning.
Experience designing and operating cloud services, especially AWS, with working knowledge of Kubernetes, deployment practices, and observability.
Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor or Claude Code and sound judgment about their limitations.
Experience setting architectural direction, writing technical proposals, building cross-team alignment, and mentoring without formal authority.
Ability to make pragmatic build-versus-buy decisions, translate ambiguous needs into priorities, and own outcomes through production.
B.A. or B.S. in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred: production experience with Snowflake, Airflow, or dbt.
Preferred: experience building and operating AI applications, agent frameworks, or governed data-access services with evaluation and monitoring.
Preferred: financial-services data experience or work in environments requiring strong data accuracy, privacy, and reliability.

Salary: $203k - $275k/yr
