Responsibilities

Set technical direction for scalable data pipelines and data-serving platforms.
Design and build high-performance systems for financial-data ingestion, transformation, serving, and consumption.
Create shared frameworks and platforms that enable AI applications and agents to access trusted data.
Lead cross-team initiatives from technical planning and design through rollout and ongoing operation.
Establish standards for data quality, observability, recovery, security, and access controls.
Improve query performance, platform reliability, and infrastructure efficiency while resolving complex production issues.
Mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and raise engineering standards through hands-on technical guidance.

Requirements

8+ years of software engineering experience leading complex platform or distributed-systems initiatives across teams.
Strong proficiency in Python or Java, strong SQL skills, and experience designing, debugging, operating, and supporting production systems.
Deep experience with databases, data warehouses, ETL or ELT pipelines, data modeling, query optimization, and batch versus real-time processing.
Experience with large-scale offline processing and batch pipelines using Spark or similar frameworks, including failure recovery and performance tuning.
Experience designing and operating cloud services, especially on AWS, with working knowledge of Kubernetes, deployment practices, and observability.
Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor or Claude Code and the judgment to evaluate practical AI applications.
Experience setting architectural direction, writing technical proposals, building cross-team alignment, and mentoring engineers without formal authority.
Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred experience with Snowflake, Airflow, or dbt in production.
Preferred experience building and operating AI applications, agent frameworks, or governed data-access services with evaluation and monitoring.
Financial-services data experience or experience in environments requiring strong data accuracy, privacy, and reliability is preferred.

Salary: $181k - $265k/yr
