Staff Backend Engineer - Data Platform in USA

Responsibilities

  • Access, ingest, normalize, and validate customer data.
  • Build and maintain long-running workflows, APIs, data pipelines, customer-facing UIs, and ingestion scripts.
  • Contribute to AI MCP services owned by the team.
  • Partner with Customer Success to create custom customer data models.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of experience building backend services and APIs as a backend engineer, full-stack engineer, data engineer, or similar.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL/dbt.
  • Strong fluency with a modern orchestrator such as Dagster, Airflow, or Temporal.
  • Experience with cloud data lakehouses or warehouses such as BigQuery or Databricks.
  • Experience with Google Cloud or AWS.
  • React or another frontend framework is a bonus.
  • Fivetran, Airbyte, Terraform, commerce platform integrations, and earlier-stage startup experience are bonus qualifications.

Salary: $180k - $220k/yr
