Responsibilities

  • Drive cross-team architecture for initiatives spanning pods, services, APIs, data models, event flows, and reliability patterns.
  • Set and model standards for code quality, testing, observability, secure design, and operability through RFCs, architecture reviews, pairing, and technical leadership.
  • Partner with Engineering Directors, Pod Leads, and Product on technical strategy, sequencing, technical debt, and platform investments.
  • Write production code and author meaningful pull requests as a hands-on technical leader.
  • Mentor Senior and Mid engineers through design reviews, deep pairing, and technical guidance.
  • Lead or co-lead response and durable remediation for high-severity incidents affecting systems within the role’s influence.
  • Communicate technical trade-offs and produce written designs that teams can challenge and execute against.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including substantial experience as a Senior or Lead individual contributor on complex systems.
  • Deep expertise in backend technologies such as Java, Spring, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Kafka, AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes, or frontend technologies such as React and TypeScript.
  • Ability to reason across the full stack from data model through API to user interface.
  • Proven experience designing highly available, secure, and operable production systems.
  • Strong experience with unit, integration, and contract testing and familiarity with CI/CD using GitHub Actions.
  • Demonstrated influence without formal authority, clear communication, product judgment, intellectual honesty, and mentoring ability.
  • Strong English communication skills; Spanish is a plus.
  • Experience in financial applications, payments, or regulated Latin American markets is preferred.
  • Prior Staff, Principal, Staff-equivalent, or organization-wide Tech Lead experience is preferred.
  • Experience with platform or developer-experience investments, shared libraries, internal tools, AI-assisted engineering workflows, deep AWS usage, or security posture work is preferred.
