Responsibilities

  • Design features and build large-scale machine learning models and systems for ad targeting, relevance, ranking, and engagement.
  • Implement ML systems for search ranking, semantic retrieval, query understanding, and personalized product discovery.
  • Use transformer-based models, contrastive learning, vector search, large language models, embeddings, and multimodal learning to improve search relevance and user-intent modeling.
  • Build and optimize ML pipelines with Apache Spark, Airflow, Kubeflow, and MLflow for reproducibility, scalability, and operational excellence.
  • Define and track performance metrics to evaluate model impact and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and data science teams to align technical solutions with business goals and customer experience.
  • Mentor and grow engineering talent while fostering technical excellence, experimentation, and continuous learning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, statistics, or a closely related field.
  • At least 4 years of professional experience in applied machine learning.
  • Experience with machine learning, deep learning, and statistical modeling.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or Java and experience building production-grade ML systems.
  • Preferred experience with search systems, information retrieval, recommendation engines, LLMs, embeddings, and vector search technologies.
  • Preferred experience with AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Vertex AI, BigQuery, or SageMaker.
  • Preferred hands-on experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, Keras, XGBoost, LightGBM, and H2O.ai.
  • Preferred experience with ML lifecycle tools such as MLflow, Kubeflow, Weights & Biases, or Amazon SageMaker.
  • Preferred experience in startup or high-growth environments and leading cross-functional teams in a multicultural, global organization.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and manage ambiguity in fast-paced environments.

  • Base pay for the Staff position ranges from $152K/year to $277K/year, varying by geographic market and job-related factors.
  • Annual bonus of 0–20% of base salary.
