Staff Machine Learning Engineer, Personalization in USA

Responsibilities

  • Design features and build large-scale machine learning models and systems for ad targeting, relevance, ranking, and engagement.
  • Implement ML systems for search ranking, semantic retrieval, query understanding, and personalized product discovery.
  • Develop search relevance and user-intent modeling using LLMs, embeddings, vector search, and multimodal learning.
  • Build and optimize scalable ML pipelines with Apache Spark, Airflow, Kubeflow, and MLflow.
  • Process billions of user interaction records and petabytes of raw log files into consumable data objects.
  • Serve complex ML models in real time and define metrics to evaluate model and business impact.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and data science teams on technical solutions and customer experience.
  • Mentor and grow engineering talent and promote technical excellence, experimentation, and continuous learning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, statistics, or a closely related field.
  • 4+ years of professional experience in applied machine learning.
  • Experience with machine learning, deep learning, and statistical modeling.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or Java and experience building production-grade ML systems.
  • Preferred experience with search systems, information retrieval, recommendation engines, LLMs, embeddings, and vector search technologies.
  • Preferred experience with AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Vertex AI, BigQuery, or SageMaker.
  • Hands-on experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, Keras, XGBoost, LightGBM, or H2O.ai is preferred.
  • Experience with ML lifecycle tools such as MLflow, Kubeflow, Weights & Biases, or Amazon SageMaker is preferred.
  • A master’s degree or PhD, startup or high-growth experience, cross-functional leadership, strong communication, independence, and ambiguity management are preferred.
