Staff Marketing Technology Engineer in Canada new

Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve the BigQuery marketing data warehouse and dbt-based transformations.
  • Design and maintain batch and streaming ETL/ELT pipelines that integrate diverse data sources and APIs.
  • Design, build, and deploy applications and AI agents on Google Cloud to automate marketing and product workflows.
  • Develop AI-powered self-service tools and apply AI to automate data-engineering work.
  • Maintain engineering standards including Git-based version control, code review, semantic versioning, automated testing, and CI/CD.
  • Own data security and governance, including least-privilege IAM, secret management, PII handling, BigQuery row- and column-level security, and AI data-access guardrails.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Product, Finance, Sales, Marketing Operations, analysts, and BI specialists to resolve data and tooling needs.
  • Provide technical leadership, architectural direction, data architecture expertise, and subject-matter expertise in AI application engineering and marketing technology.
  • Assess and mitigate delivery, quality, stability, performance, and infrastructure risks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of data engineering experience with breadth into software and/or AI application development.
  • Strong software-engineering fundamentals, including Git workflows, code review, automated testing, and CI/CD.
  • Hands-on experience deploying applications on Google Cloud, including Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, or GKE, plus Docker and infrastructure-as-code such as Terraform.
  • Experience building and deploying AI/LLM applications and agents using technologies such as Vertex AI, Agent Builder, LangChain, or LangGraph, and evaluating AI system reliability.
  • API design experience, such as with FastAPI.
  • Expertise in SQL and Python, ETL/ELT pipeline design, batch and streaming processing, and API integration.
  • Required experience with BigQuery, dbt, and data-warehouse modeling concepts.
  • Working knowledge of IAM, least privilege, secret management, data security, governance, and sensitive or PII data handling.
  • Experience with cloud environments; GCP is preferred and AWS or Azure is an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Fivetran, marketing software categories, Power BI, or Tableau is a plus.
