Staff Site Reliability Engineer in UK

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, deploy, and operate software and systems supporting Firefox engineering.
  • Develop and maintain developer tooling, workflow automation, CI/CD systems, and AI-assisted development tools.
  • Own complex technical problems across software, cloud, and operational layers, improving reliability, performance, observability, and cost efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Firefox Engineering, Cloud Engineering, IT, and other teams on cross-functional technical and organizational problems.
  • Use telemetry, metrics, and data analysis to investigate problems and guide engineering decisions.
  • Contribute to architecture and technical strategy by identifying recurring problems and reusable solutions.
  • Contribute to the open-source ecosystem.

Requirements

  • Strong programming skills in Python or JavaScript/TypeScript; C++ or Rust experience is useful.
  • Substantial hands-on experience building, deploying, and operating production systems in cloud environments.
  • Experience using infrastructure as code such as Terraform.
  • Experience in several areas including CI/CD, containers and orchestration, networking, databases, observability, or developer tooling.
  • Experience using data, telemetry, and metrics to investigate technical problems and make decisions.
  • Familiarity with modern AI-assisted development tools and their capabilities, limitations, and appropriate use.
  • Ability to work across unfamiliar systems and technical domains, take end-to-end ownership, and provide technical judgment and guidance.
