Staff Software Engineer in Australia

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of scalable, resilient software solutions across customer channel and data platforms.
  • Build and evolve applications, APIs, services and platform capabilities supporting Business Banking experiences.
  • Contribute across frontend, backend, cloud platforms, customer experiences and data-enabled solutions.
  • Drive architectural decisions and influence engineering direction across squads.
  • Champion automated testing, CI/CD, observability and DevSecOps practices.
  • Partner with product, business and architecture stakeholders to deliver customer outcomes.
  • Mentor engineers and help grow technical capability across the organisation.
  • Support production platforms and drive continuous improvement through automation, monitoring and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Proven experience designing and delivering complex software solutions in large-scale or distributed environments.
  • Strong hands-on software engineering capability and experience building cloud-native applications, APIs, platforms or data-driven services.
  • Strong frontend experience with React, TypeScript and Next.js, plus full-stack engineering experience.
  • Experience influencing technical direction, architecture and engineering standards.
  • A track record of mentoring engineers and uplifting capability across teams.
  • Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Docker and infrastructure-as-code using Terraform and/or CloudFormation is valued.
  • Experience with .NET or Python is a plus.
  • Experience with microservices, event-driven architectures and modern application design patterns is valued.
  • Experience in customer channels, digital platforms, CRM, data services, AI-enabled products or financial services is highly regarded but not essential.
