Responsibilities

  • Define and drive Snowsight’s web performance strategy using Core Web Vitals, custom interaction metrics, and data-rendering performance measures.
  • Build and maintain real-user monitoring and synthetic monitoring pipelines, CI regression detection, bundle analysis, dashboards, and alerting.
  • Identify and resolve systemic performance bottlenecks involving application loading, code splitting, React rendering, data fetching, caching, virtualization, streaming, memory, and CPU efficiency.
  • Optimize build and delivery performance through bundle-size improvements, tree-shaking, chunk splitting, CDN caching, and resource prioritization.
  • Establish performance budgets and CI/CD guardrails to detect regressions before release.
  • Advise product teams on performance-aware architectures, data-fetching patterns, rendering strategies, and progressive loading.
  • Mentor engineers, review critical performance paths, and promote organization-wide ownership of performance.
  • Represent frontend performance in cross-organizational architecture decisions involving APIs, services, and caching layers.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience with deep web-performance expertise for large-scale web applications.
  • Expert JavaScript/TypeScript and React knowledge, including React rendering internals and performance diagnosis in large React codebases.
  • Strong understanding of browser performance fundamentals, rendering pipelines, main-thread scheduling, Web Workers, and browser performance profiling.
  • Experience designing and operating real-user and synthetic performance monitoring at scale, including custom metrics, percentile alerting, and regression anomaly detection.
  • Deep knowledge of build tooling and delivery optimization, including code splitting, tree-shaking, chunk strategies, lazy loading, CDN behavior, caching headers, and resource hints.
  • Experience with large-dataset rendering, virtualization, canvas/WebGL rendering, streaming or incremental rendering, and efficient DOM management.
  • Strong communication and influence skills, with the ability to set technical direction and build consensus across engineering and product stakeholders.
  • Experience in a platform or infrastructure role serving other engineering teams.
  • Ability to work on-site in Bellevue, WA or Menlo Park, CA.
  • Preferred: familiarity with server-side rendering, streaming SSR, edge rendering, browser engines or internals, web performance standards, browser APIs, open-source performance tooling, observability platforms, and data-intensive user interfaces.

Benefits

  • On-site work is required at the Bellevue, Washington or Menlo Park, California office.
  • Salary and benefits information is provided through the Snowflake Careers Site.
