Staff Software Engineer in Canada

Responsibilities

  • Work with leaders and engineers across Stripe to identify opportunities to improve reliability.
  • Scope, design, implement, and deploy robust distributed services with appropriate reliability, throughput, latency, resiliency, velocity, and cost tradeoffs.
  • Design and implement products and prototypes that improve service resiliency, engineering velocity, and management at scale.
  • Mentor and grow the next generation of technical leaders.
  • Contribute to engineering strategy, tooling, processes, culture, and codebase quality.
  • Lead and influence large projects spanning multiple engineering teams.

Requirements

  • 10 or more years of distributed and cloud-native software development experience at a highly scaled or hyperscaler service.
  • Deep understanding of scalable, resilient, distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, and mission-critical systems.
  • Experience influencing, planning, scoping, and leading large projects across many teams.
  • Strong history as a technical lead and mentor across several engineering teams.
  • High autonomy, responsibility, initiative, and ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and subject matter experts.
