Staff Software Engineer - Back End in Others new

Responsibilities

  • Own the full product lifecycle from business requirements and technology selection through coding standards, development, testing, CI/CD, monitoring, and maintenance.
  • Design, develop, and maintain backend platforms, scalable data pipelines, and storage solutions across FinTech.
  • Build stable, scalable, highly performant systems for financial technology applications.
  • Develop and maintain large-scale distributed systems and support operational excellence through metrics, alarms, and dashboards.
  • Mentor engineers and help others produce high-quality code.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and departments to achieve product and technology goals.
  • Lead projects, initiatives, and teams with full ownership of the systems involved.
  • Recruit and onboard exceptional talent.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience developing high-performance production applications.
  • Strong proficiency in Java, Kotlin, and Scala.
  • Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop and Apache Spark, plus advanced SQL and data architecture knowledge.
  • Ability to reason about system edge cases, failure modes, and lifecycles using a metrics-driven approach.
  • Experience with Scrum or Agile development methodologies.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Experience with operational excellence, including metrics, alarms, and dashboards.
  • Preferred experience in modern FinTech or payments organizations.
  • Preferred knowledge of financial reconciliation, financial reporting, tax, virtual credit cards, or customer payments.
  • Preferred hands-on experience with Spark, ETL data pipelines, Kafka, RabbitMQ, GitLab, and Kubernetes.
  • Preferred experience developing, maintaining, and debugging large-scale distributed systems.
  • Preferred experience leading projects, initiatives, or teams.
