Staff Software Engineer - Back End in Others

Responsibilities

  • Own the full product lifecycle from business requirements and technology selection through coding standards, development, testing, CI/CD, monitoring, and operational excellence.
  • Design, develop, and maintain backend platforms, scalable data pipelines, and storage solutions across fintech.
  • Build stable, scalable, and high-performance systems for financial technology use cases.
  • Develop and maintain large-scale distributed systems and optimize system performance.
  • Mentor engineers and help others improve code quality and engineering practices.
  • Collaborate with product, finance, engineering, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Lead projects, initiatives, and teams with full ownership of the systems involved.
  • Participate in recruiting and onboarding exceptional talent.

Requirements

  • Require 8+ years of experience developing high-performance production applications.
  • Require strong proficiency in Java, Kotlin, or Scala.
  • Require experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, real-time processing frameworks such as Apache Spark, SQL, and data architecture.
  • Need systems-thinking skills covering edge cases, failure modes, and system life cycles.
  • Need a metrics-driven approach and experience with operational excellence, metrics, alarms, and dashboards.
  • Need strong software development skills, adaptability, problem-solving ability, and strategic thinking.
  • Need experience with Scrum or Agile development methodologies and excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Preferred experience includes modern fintech or payments organizations and domains such as reconciliation, financial reporting, tax, virtual credit cards, and customer payments.
  • Preferred hands-on experience includes Spark, ETL data pipelines, Kafka, RabbitMQ, GitLab, and Kubernetes.
  • Preferred experience includes developing, maintaining, and debugging large-scale distributed systems and leading projects, initiatives, or teams.
