Responsibilities

  • Discover and conceptualize AI-powered workflow enhancements with designers, artists, and engineers.
  • Define the future vision for AI-based developer tooling and workflows with engineering leaders.
  • Lead the application of AI/ML systems to developer- and player-facing problems.
  • Architect and help implement foundational elements of the game tools ecosystem.
  • Scope, architect, implement, and test AI/ML-based solutions.
  • Apply current AI/ML industry developments to practical development challenges.
  • Share AI-based solutions across Riot’s portfolio with central teams.
  • Model best practices for tools architecture and implementation.
  • Mentor engineers across multiple levels and support their technical growth.
  • Advance adoption of AI/ML tools through mentorship, documentation, and advocacy.
  • Provide documentation and training on new tools and workflows to internal customers.

Requirements

  • 8+ years or equivalent depth of professional software engineering experience, including delivery of live or shipped products at scale.
  • 3+ years or equivalent depth working on game development tools and C++.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine and awareness of upcoming game development tools.
  • Experience working with AI/ML systems in a production-ready environment.
  • B.S. in computer science or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and influence cross-functional stakeholders with strong communication across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Applied knowledge in one or more of reinforcement learning, imitation learning, decision-making under uncertainty, LLMs, AI planning, or multi-agent systems is desired.
  • Experience with modern ML/data science libraries and frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, and pandas is desired.
  • Deep knowledge of tooling used in AAA games and its integration with client and backend systems is desired.
  • Experience developing AI- or ML-driven content tools integrating with art pipelines such as Maya or Blender is desired.
  • Experience mentoring technical leaders and contributing to engineering culture across distributed teams is desired.
