Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain software applications supporting optical product development, manufacturing process development, testing, and automation.
  • Develop automation platforms for automated assembly systems, machine vision, robotics, motion control, and data acquisition.
  • Create applications and dashboards to collect, manage, visualize, and analyze manufacturing, test, and product performance data.
  • Integrate software with laboratory equipment, industrial automation platforms, databases, vision systems, enterprise applications, and infrastructure as code.
  • Build software for product validation, automated testing, data logging, performance characterization, process control, equipment efficiency, traceability, and manufacturing quality.
  • Collaborate with optical, mechanical, electrical, process development, manufacturing, and quality engineering teams.
  • Produce software requirements, architecture documentation, validation protocols, user guides, technical specifications, and support documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 8+ years of experience developing software applications, automation solutions, industrial software, or engineering systems.
  • Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages such as Python or C++.
  • Experience with version control systems, software testing, CI/CD pipelines, debugging, and software lifecycle management.
  • Experience developing and deploying desktop, web-based, or engineering software applications.
  • Knowledge of industrial automation systems, PLCs, machine vision systems, robotics, motion control platforms, or manufacturing equipment integration.
  • Experience with databases, SQL, data acquisition systems, data analytics, and reporting tools.
  • Understanding of object-oriented programming, software design principles, API development, and system integration methodologies.
  • Experience developing automated test platforms, validation tools, and software verification methodologies.
  • Preferred qualifications include manufacturing or industrial automation experience; machine vision, image processing, robotics, or motion control experience; fiber optics, optical communications, photonics, or precision manufacturing knowledge; cloud-based analytics, AI/ML applications, Industry 4.0, MQTT, REST APIs, industrial communication protocols, infrastructure as code, and containerized applications.
