Test Automation Lead in Canada new

Responsibilities

  • Develop test strategies, plans, scenarios, and cases from functional and technical requirements.
  • Execute functional, integration, regression, end-to-end, and UAT-support testing across mainframe batch and online CICS/3270 applications.
  • Run and monitor JCL batch jobs and verify output files, DB2 data, and downstream feeds.
  • Test financial calculations, investment processing logic, regulatory outputs, tax reporting, statements, and confirmations.
  • Create and manage masked or synthetic test data in accordance with privacy requirements.
  • Design and maintain automated regression suites for mainframe, API, and integration layers.
  • Perform SQL and mainframe-based reconciliation and data validation.
  • Log, triage, and track defects through closure and contribute to root cause analysis.
  • Support production release validation, smoke testing, and post-implementation verification.
  • Contribute to quality metrics, risk-based testing, continuous improvement, and collaboration across delivery teams.

Requirements

  • 4-8+ years of QA/QE experience with substantial mainframe testing experience in Canadian retail banking and/or retail investments.
  • Strong understanding of mainframe batch and online testing, JCL, and job scheduling.
  • Proficiency in SQL/DB2 for data validation.
  • Hands-on experience with File-AID, Xpediter, SDSF/ISPF, or similar tools.
  • Experience with Jira, Xray, ALM/Octane, qTest, or comparable test management and defect tools.
  • Knowledge of test design techniques, regression strategy, SDLC, and STLC.
  • Understanding of retail banking and investment products, including RRSP, TFSA, RESP, FHSA, and RRIF.
  • Bachelor’s degree or completion of a college program in a related discipline.
  • Preferred experience includes mainframe test automation with Micro Focus UFT or Rocket/Zowe-based tooling, Selenium, Python, Postman, or REST Assured.
  • Preferred qualifications include test data management, service virtualization, CI/CD and shift-left testing, Fundserv, trade settlement, reconciliation workflows, performance and batch-window testing, ISTQB certification, and familiarity with FINTRAC, CIRO/CSA, PIPEDA, and audit controls.
