MITRE

MITRE is a nonprofit systems engineering and applied research organization that operates multiple federally funded research and development centers for U.S. government agencies. It builds prototypes, frameworks (such as the MITRE ATT&CK knowledge base), and provides technical guidance across defense, cybersecurity, aviation, and healthcare. Founded in 1958 and headquartered in McLean, Virginia, MITRE runs FFRDCs for sponsors including the Department of Defense, the Federal Aviation Administration, and health agencies.
