Android Engineer, Identity Product in USA

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain Stripe Identity mobile SDKs and verification experiences across Android, iOS, and React Native.
  • Create accessible, polished identity-document and selfie-capture experiences that account for device capabilities and real-world conditions.
  • Build reliable SDK APIs, reusable components, and developer-facing integration experiences.
  • Deliver features across mobile clients, supporting APIs, and services.
  • Improve mobile software performance, reliability, observability, testing, release processes, and backward compatibility.
  • Make architectural decisions balancing user experience, developer experience, security, privacy, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, machine-learning engineers, backend engineers, researchers, mobile teams, Stripe users, and field teams.
  • Operate owned systems and SDKs, diagnose production issues, and establish mobile-engineering practices.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of professional software-development experience, including meaningful experience building and shipping mobile applications or SDKs.
  • Experience developing for at least one major mobile platform using Kotlin or Java for Android.
  • Strong software-design fundamentals and experience creating maintainable APIs, components, or frameworks.
  • Experience delivering mobile functionality involving APIs and services, local state, or device capabilities.
  • Experience testing, debugging, monitoring, and improving mobile software in production.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical partners and commitment to high-quality user and developer experiences.
  • Preferred: experience with mobile SDKs, shared libraries, developer-facing APIs, iOS, Android, React Native, or Kotlin Multiplatform.
  • Preferred: experience with camera, image processing, document capture, biometrics, sensitive data, security, privacy, accessibility, internationalization, performance, unreliable networks, mobile CI, automated testing, release automation, observability, or backend APIs and services.
