Responsibilities

  • Own the visual and interactive quality of Method’s design system, including component states, motion, and cross-surface consistency.
  • Build shader-based website experiences using Three.js and WebGL, including hero sections, ambient motion, and branded interactive moments.
  • Redesign the dashboard with polished transitions, data visualization, and JSON-driven generative UI components.
  • Architect a component library for dynamically constructing charts, layouts, and other UI elements from structured data.
  • Evaluate bespoke work versus existing tooling and communicate technical tradeoffs.
  • Reduce reliance on contractors for production design and frontend UI work.
  • Collaborate with engineers and the Head of Design on design direction and eventually help scope and hire adjacent design talent.
  • Contribute to open-source work and develop creative coding that represents Method’s design point of view.

Requirements

  • Experience shipping interactive web work involving shaders, Three.js, WebGL, and GLSL, demonstrated through a portfolio.
  • Understanding of the stack from GPU rendering through React component architecture and browser-based execution.
  • Strong visual judgment and the ability to execute product and interaction design without supplied comps.
  • Experience building production design systems and component libraries used by other people.
  • An individual-contributor orientation with the ability to work independently in a greenfield specialty.
  • Experience contributing to design studios, developer tooling companies, creative agencies, or high-quality independent development work.
  • Preferred experience in creative coding, gaming, CGI, motion design tooling, generative UI, JSON-driven component rendering, or open-source Three.js, shader, and creative coding libraries.
