Intermediate Software Engineer in USA

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain backend features for GitLab’s vulnerability management workflows.
  • Build and improve security data ingestion, reporting, dashboards, and vulnerability-management systems for performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Ship features with minimal guidance, collaborate on larger projects, and contribute across the stack when needed.
  • Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, product designers, and related security teams.
  • Write maintainable, high-quality code, conduct code reviews, respond to community contributions, and address technical debt.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to troubleshoot product operations, security operations, and urgent engineering issues.

Requirements

  • Experience building and maintaining backend applications with Ruby on Rails.
  • Experience delivering and maintaining software systems as part of a larger engineering team.
  • Ability to investigate technical problems, seek context when needed, and work toward practical resolutions.
  • Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
  • Clear communication and collaboration skills in a distributed team.
  • Frontend development experience with JavaScript or Vue.js is helpful.
  • Experience with Elasticsearch, graph databases, vulnerability management, application security, or related transferable skills is helpful.

Salary: $115k - $173k/yr
