Responsibilities

Analyze, customize, and enhance Apache Airflow source code to develop features and improve functionality and performance.
Contribute patches, enhancements, and fixes to the Apache Airflow open-source community.
Implement secure, scalable, and performant Airflow architecture.
Develop and optimize complex Airflow DAGs and Operators for data processing and orchestration.
Use AI coding agents by providing appropriate context, specifications, constraints, and validation criteria.
Collaborate with internal teams and the open-source community on workflow orchestration at scale.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
At least 5 years of software development experience with a strong focus on Python.
At least 2 years of hands-on Apache Airflow experience, including DAG and Operator development.
Strong understanding of cloud platforms and containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
Experience with CI/CD tools and practices.
Demonstrated ability to build production-grade software with AI coding agents while maintaining quality, availability, and maintainability.
Hands-on experience delivering production-quality software using AI coding tools such as Claude Code or Codex.
Preferred qualifications include deep knowledge of Airflow architecture and internals, Airflow or open-source project contribution experience, strong communication skills, and experience with Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, or Flink.
