Senior Flutter Engineer in USA

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with designers, backend engineers, and product managers to deliver a high-quality rider application.
  • Develop and continuously improve Via’s rider mobile apps across booking, account management, and core rider journeys.
  • Work primarily in Flutter while contributing to native Android and iOS codebases and choosing appropriate cross-platform or native approaches.
  • Architect and evolve mobile infrastructure services, including app architecture, performance optimization, and memory management.
  • Diagnose and resolve critical production issues in live environments.
  • Mentor engineers, share expertise across platforms, and provide thoughtful code reviews.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of mobile development experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with cross-platform frameworks, with Flutter experience strongly advantageous.
  • Solid native development experience in Android using Kotlin or iOS using Swift.
  • Ability to work across cross-platform and native codebases and choose the appropriate approach.
  • Strong understanding of mobile app architecture patterns, performance optimization, and concurrent programming, including Kotlin Coroutines, Swift async-await, or Dart async patterns.
  • Experience with Location Services and Google Maps API, and familiarity with mapping tools such as Mapbox.
  • Collaborative, proactive, curious, and able to mentor other engineers.

Benefits

  • Hybrid work arrangement with onsite work in NYC 2–3 days per week.
  • Salary range of $160,000–$200,000, excluding equity or variable pay.
