Responsibilities

  • Design, build, deploy, and maintain resilient and scalable features for Toast’s enterprise management products.
  • Lead complex projects that improve product functionality and customer reliability.
  • Build backend services and APIs that scale across distributed systems.
  • Develop automated tests and ensure the quality of engineering changes.
  • Roll out features to customers and monitor their success in production.
  • Collaborate with UX, Product Management, and teams across Toast on feature definition and design.
  • Mentor and coach other engineers.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience building backend services and APIs.
  • Extensive experience with an object-oriented language such as Java or Kotlin.
  • Deep understanding of testing, quality, engineering best practices, production services, platform stability, and reliability.
  • Experience scaling distributed systems and balancing delivery with platform stability.
  • Strong cross-team communication skills for complex technical topics.
  • Experience building Android applications with Kotlin is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with a shared codebase.
