Responsibilities

Solve scaling bottlenecks in logging, metrics, traces, and alerting pipelines.
Design and evolve APIs for product engineering teams and identify developer pain points.
Improve observability platform reliability by addressing bottlenecks and single points of failure.
Drive features and products from ideation through implementation and adoption.
Contribute to planning and refinement while improving engineering alignment, quality, and simplicity.
Respond to alerts, support engineers, and troubleshoot production issues.

Requirements

5+ years of experience working with highly distributed systems.
Expertise designing and implementing APIs and high-throughput, real-time data ingestion pipelines.
Experience improving availability, performance, latency, efficiency, capacity, SLOs, and incident management.
Proficiency developing and maintaining software in Go and/or Java.
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
Solid understanding of system design and architectural tradeoffs.
Track record of leading and delivering projects and features end to end.
Preferred experience operating observability data stores and tools such as Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, VictoriaLogs, ClickHouse, Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, Grafana Tempo, Grafana LGTM, OpenTelemetry, and Alertmanager.
Experience with highly available or fault-tolerant replicated storage systems and large-scale data processing systems is preferred.
Contributions to open-source observability projects are preferred.
