Responsibilities

Architect and evolve scalable, performant customer-facing web platforms.
Build AI-driven interfaces and intelligent benefits shopping experiences.
Design, build, and maintain shared services and product workflows across the stack.
Write high-quality, well-tested code and use AI-powered tools to improve development and reliability.
Mentor and support engineers while establishing AI-native design patterns and best practices.
Partner with Marketing, Sales, Operations, and leadership to translate business needs into technical solutions.
Influence the technical roadmap for the Benefits Advisory platform and align work with Gusto’s AI-native strategy.

Requirements

8+ years of experience building scalable full-stack web applications.
Expertise in frontend development with React and TypeScript, plus backend API development, data modeling, and database schema design.
Extensive experience building AI interfaces, iterating on prompts, and maintaining high-quality evaluations.
Extensive experience applying AI tools to full-stack development, code quality, intelligent user experiences, and AI-driven personalization.
Deep experience with CI/CD and observability best practices.
Ability to partner with technical Engineering and AI/Data teams as well as business Sales and Operations teams.
Experience enabling productivity across large engineering organizations and balancing pragmatic execution with long-term architectural thinking.
Preferred experience with React, Ruby on Rails, robust recommendation systems, and AI architecture and scalability for reliable platform services.

Salary: $191k - $265k/yr
