Responsibilities

Design, write, test, and maintain object-oriented software for collecting, storing, analyzing, and reporting on large data sets.
Implement big data solutions using web content and traffic data to solve customer problems and produce operational and business intelligence.
Develop and operate systems with extensive data-processing requirements while meeting OLAs and SLAs.
Perform system verification and collaborate on testing approaches, success criteria, and procedures for data, processing, and interfaces.
Use open-source tools and automation for daily builds, testing, and deployment.
Support distributed systems, networking, virtual environments, kernel configurations, data storage, and security-related engineering work.
Lead incident response for challenging engineering problems as needed.
Provide hands-on technical leadership, documentation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement of organizational practices.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree plus 12 years or master’s degree plus 10 years of relevant work experience.
At least 8 years of software development experience in a Unix environment.
Expert-level programming experience with Java, Python, or an equivalent language.
Experience with MapReduce and Spark applications and jobs, plus Hadoop, Hive, Kafka, and other big data technologies.
Experience testing systems from functional and existing system specifications, including performance testing and tuning of big data jobs.
Experience with data migration methodologies and relational, time-series, or NoSQL databases.
Experience working in Linux environments.
Experience with Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins, or similar automation frameworks and systems.
Experience with private or public cloud environments and cloud-native application architectures.
Experience working in highly productive teams using agile practices.
