Responsibilities

Architect and execute the technical strategy for Adyen’s unified global observability platform.
Lead the architectural revamp of petabyte-scale search, logging, metrics, and telemetry data systems.
Design APIs, secure interfaces, and integration protocols connecting telemetry data to autonomous AI agents and conversational query tools.
Create isolated, highly available regional architectures to improve operational stability and reduce blast radius.
Build self-service developer tooling with automated schema enforcement and quota and retention management.
Provide technical direction, lead design reviews, and guide engineers through complex distributed systems challenges.
Advocate for observability capabilities and standards across engineering teams and drive adoption of developer-facing tools.

Requirements

10+ years of experience in software, systems, or platform engineering, including 3+ years in a similar technical leadership role in observability or large-scale distributed data systems.
Deep hands-on experience designing, scaling, and operating distributed search databases, time-series metrics systems, or high-performance logging architectures at multi-petabyte scale.
Practical understanding of structuring, schema-enforcing, and cleaning high-volume telemetry streams for LLMs, semantic search engines, and RAG pipelines.
Experience adopting telemetry collection frameworks such as OpenTelemetry and implementing SLO-driven alert governance.
Strong software development proficiency, ideally in Go, Java, or Python, with experience building production-grade automated tooling and real-time data ingestion pipelines.
Extensive experience operating and troubleshooting high-throughput workloads on production Kubernetes in on-premises and cloud environments.
Understanding of system-level performance tuning across networking, storage, and operating system limits.
Exceptional communication, system-design, stakeholder alignment, mentoring, and cross-team collaboration skills.
Experience with Model Context Protocol or similar open standards for exposing platform data to AI agents and SRE assistants is nice to have.
Experience with automated anomaly detection, conversational AI querying interfaces, or continuous profiling platforms is nice to have.
Familiarity with multi-tenant isolation, capacity management, and cost-attribution frameworks is nice to have.
