Own the architecture of the data ingestion and integration platform.
Define technical direction for event-driven and batch processing, including build, buy, and migration decisions.
Establish standards for observability, data freshness, and failure handling.
Lead cross-team design with data engineering, infrastructure, and product.
Mentor engineers through design reviews, code contributions, and engineering-practice improvements.
Identify and drive resolution of unscoped platform problems.
Requirements
8+ years of software or data engineering experience, including significant experience owning large-scale ingestion, ETL, or integration platform architecture.
Deep proficiency in Python, strong SQL skills, and cloud data warehouse experience such as BigQuery.
Experience designing API-based ETL systems at scale using REST, GraphQL, webhooks, authentication, and multi-tenancy.
Production experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow and containerized infrastructure including Docker and Kubernetes.
Demonstrated technical leadership setting direction and aligning engineers without direct reporting authority.
Experience mentoring engineers and improving engineering practices across a team or organization.
Understanding of authentication mechanisms including OAuth 2.0, API keys, and secrets management.
Experience with ERP systems, CRMs, CDPs, or other complex enterprise data tools and APIs is a bonus.
Exposure to event-driven architectures and real-time data processing tools is a bonus.
Knowledge of data governance, GDPR, SOC2, and security best practices for sensitive data is a bonus.
Experience in multi-tenant SaaS or large-scale data-intensive environments is a bonus.
