Responsibilities

  • Decompose and document architectures, state machines, and requirements for grid-scale battery energy storage systems from grid commands through battery-cell firmware.
  • Facilitate cross-functional design and implementation of distributed, fault-tolerant, safety-critical systems across controls, electronics, power systems, and software engineering.
  • Convert model-based systems engineering artifacts, functional-safety hardware-software interfaces, and interface-control documents into version-controlled data schemas.
  • Translate security specifications and functional-safety hazard models into verifiable execution contracts and deterministic rules.
  • Investigate and resolve system ambiguity through hands-on code analysis and cross-functional technical collaboration.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in software engineering, embedded systems engineering, or product assurance, including 2+ years of technical leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated delivery of complex production-grade embedded systems, safety-critical hardware/software, or service-oriented architectures at scale.
  • Strong capability in architectural design, failure and risk analysis, and near-real-time cross-functional technical communication.
  • Strong foundation in discrete logic, mathematical modeling, or formal specification, with experience implementing executable specifications using structured data schemas such as JSON Schema, Protobuf, YAML, or CUE.
  • Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary stakeholders to deliver robust hardware/software designs under tight deadlines.
  • Preferred: experience reading bare-metal C code and performing diagnostic debugging with Wireshark, embedded debuggers, CAN, SPI, Ethernet, or Embedded Linux/MPUs.
  • Preferred: ability to decompose programmable-component safety requirements into software safety assertions and experience with formal specification tools such as TLA+.

Salary: $170k - $223k/yr
