Column is a nationally chartered bank and software company that provides APIs and infrastructure for developers to build financial products—accounts, payments (ACH, wires, RTP/FedNow), and ledgering—without sponsor-bank intermediaries. It serves fintechs and platforms directly as the underlying bank and charges for banking services and API access. Founded in 2021 by Plaid co-founder William Hockey and Annie Hockey, Column is privately held and headquartered in San Francisco.
