Associate QA in Canada

Responsibilities

  • Review stories and acceptance criteria for testability during refinement.
  • Write, execute, and maintain functional test cases covering happy paths, edge cases, and negative scenarios.
  • Build and maintain Playwright end-to-end automation for user journeys.
  • Perform API testing against .NET REST endpoints, including response validation, error handling, and permission behavior.
  • Test role-based, permission-sensitive, and multi-tenant access across the UI and API.
  • Test multi-step, long-running, asynchronous, failing, retrying, and resumable processes.
  • Validate reporting and analytics output against source data using SQL queries.
  • Conduct browser, responsive, device, breakpoint, and WCAG 2.x Level AA accessibility testing.
  • Report defects with reproduction steps, environment details, and severity assessments, and retest fixes in Jira.
  • Maintain traceability among acceptance criteria, test coverage, and defects.
  • Support release validation and production verification after deployment.
  • Keep automated tests reliable in GitLab CI/CD and investigate failures.
  • Maintain test cases and testing notes in Confluence.
  • Participate in refinement, planning, review, and retrospective activities on a self-directed scrum team.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of QA experience testing web applications.
  • Hands-on experience writing and maintaining automated tests with Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.
  • Experience testing web applications with business logic such as forms, workflows, and dashboards.
  • Practical API testing experience, including REST responses, status codes, and error handling.
  • Experience testing role- and permission-based application behavior.
  • Basic to intermediate SQL skills for data verification.
  • Ability to write clear and reproducible defect reports.
  • Experience writing test cases from acceptance criteria.
  • Familiarity with running automated tests in a CI/CD pipeline and investigating failures.
  • Awareness of WCAG 2.x Level AA and experience with basic accessibility checks.
  • Comfort working within an existing test suite, framework, and team standards.
  • Experience with agile delivery practices including refinement, planning, review, and retrospective.
  • Experience defining feature-level test strategies independently is preferred.
  • Experience with multi-tenant isolation, Temporal or other workflow orchestration, asynchronous systems, fine-grained authorization, visual regression, performance or load testing, and ClickHouse is preferred.
  • Familiarity with C# and .NET, or TypeScript and React, is preferred.
  • Experience with Canadian public-sector or education accessibility and privacy requirements, SaaS delivery, consulting or client-facing delivery, AI-assisted testing tools, or ISTQB certification is preferred.
  • Must be located in British Columbia, Canada.
