Senior Software Engineer in USA

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain secure, stable, testable, scalable software for account access, login, identity, verification, and unauthorized-activity prevention.
  • Develop distributed backend systems and APIs using appropriate technologies and sound implementation trade-offs.
  • Own parts of the product and technology, become a subject matter expert, and improve inherited and newly developed code.
  • Lead projects, mentor junior engineers, and participate in design discussions, planning, code reviews, prioritization, and support-ticket reviews.
  • Resolve root causes of complex problems and improve team software, processes, maintainability, and operational excellence.
  • Estimate and deliver stories and tasks on schedule while balancing customer needs, team requirements, resource usage, and software quality.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science or a related software engineering field, or 4+ years of relevant work experience, preferred.
  • Strong experience writing distributed, highly scalable, highly available backend systems and APIs using Java, Python, or similar languages.
  • Experience with full stacks, single-page applications, and/or micro frontends.
  • Experience with cloud-based infrastructure and technologies, preferably AWS.
  • Understanding of containers, orchestration, and infrastructure as code, including Docker, Kubernetes, CloudFormation, and/or Terraform.
  • Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools such as Datadog.
  • Fundamental understanding of data structures and algorithms.
  • Demonstrated ownership, urgency, operational excellence, and software engineering best practices.
  • Expertise with testing concepts, test tools, and integrating testing practices into the software development life cycle.
  • Experience with AI tools such as Cursor, Claude AI, or Microsoft Copilot.
  • Nice-to-have experience with native iOS or Android development using Swift, Kotlin, or React Native.
  • Nice-to-have experience with experimentation or product analytics tools such as Amplitude.
