Senior Software Engineer, Productivity in USA

Responsibilities

  • Own improvements to developer workflows by identifying problems, designing and shipping productivity tools, and measuring their impact.
  • Build AI agent sandboxes and harnesses in C and Rust, plus integrations and context agents for Roblox’s C++ game engine codebase.
  • Partner with technical leaders across Engine and Infrastructure to deliver reliable engineering productivity tools.
  • Own developer tools and systems through design, launch, and ongoing operation.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience working on projects from 0 to 1.
  • Experience owning substantial parts of a developer tool or system through design, launch, and ongoing operation.
  • Systems programming experience in C, C++, or Rust.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Ability to turn ambiguous developer needs into practical solutions, work independently, and learn unfamiliar tools and systems.
  • Experience with or interest in JavaScript, TypeScript, and/or React is a plus.
  • Interest in AI-powered developer tools such as Claude Code, Codex, and Pi is a plus.

  • For headquarters roles in San Mateo, CA, the listed annual base salary range is $196,750–$243,290 USD.

Salary: $197k - $243k/yr
