Senior Test Engineer in Australia new

Responsibilities

  • Analyse business, functional, and technical requirements for completeness, quality, and testability.
  • Design, review, and execute test cases, scenarios, and suites across functional, system integration, end-to-end, regression, and operational readiness testing.
  • Validate trading workflows, order management, market data processing, multi-protocol integrations, real-time transaction processing, and automated trading interfaces.
  • Prepare test data and environment dependencies, manage execution readiness, investigate and track defects through resolution, and report quality metrics and release evidence.
  • Participate in risk assessments, test planning, estimation, and release readiness reviews.
  • Design, build, maintain, and improve test automation suites using internal and external tools.
  • Use approved AI tools and contribute to continuous improvement within the QE&T Community of Practice.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software testing experience in complex, mission-critical, high-availability systems.
  • Experience testing distributed, event-driven, or real-time transaction processing systems and integrations using FIX, APIs, messaging, file-based interfaces, or equivalent protocols.
  • Experience analysing message flows, system interactions, data transformations, and complex integrated platforms.
  • Strong system, integration, end-to-end, regression, and release testing experience.
  • Experience in highly regulated or operationally critical industries such as financial markets, banking, or payments.
  • Experience troubleshooting production-like issues using logs, message tracing, databases, and monitoring tools.
  • Experience with SQL, reconciliation of large datasets, CI/CD delivery environments, test automation frameworks, Linux/Unix, command-line tools, Jira, and Confluence.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Preferred: experience with exchange, clearing, settlement, derivatives, equities, fixed income, OTC trading, market data, electronic or algorithmic trading, or market surveillance platforms.
  • Preferred: knowledge of FIX, ITCH, OUCH, GLIMPSE, or FAST; Kafka, Avro, event streaming, and real-time data distribution architectures; cloud-native architectures, containerisation, and DevOps practices.
  • Preferred: Java or Python development experience and ISTQB Advanced certification or equivalent.
